A Patient Expressionist

I consider myself to be a patient expressionist.

I want to absorb the landscape.  To wait, sit back and simply observe colours.  Although influenced by the big K’s; Kandinsky and de Kooning, I feel a closer affiliation with Australian painters such as Elisabeth Cummings, Tony Tuckson and Ken Whisson and their strength through simplicity in paint.

With a continuing exploration of signs within the landscape, I have developed a strong body of work that focuses on the broader issue of our intrusion and/or relationship to our immediate environment.  Although working mainly in oils, drawing or collection of found objects are often the basis and at times become integrated within works.
