“I tend to get excited by mad schemes…..” John Wolsley is infectious by his excitement and enthusiasm. It basically boils down to this I think. You are painting, and then are distracted by almost anything and that anything winds it’s way into everything. A recent trip to Melbourne had me fascinated by their roadside barriers. Someone I know asked “WHY” and I replied with their colour and shape, so different to home. Really this could have applied to any object. Most people don’t care, they are not fixated by everyday objects but every now and then an artist will pluck an object from obscurity and produce a work where someone will say “WOW!” rather than “WHY?”
I think we strive as artists for everyone to see it through our eyes.
